Siliguri, 01st July: In a recent incident, a Bangladeshi national, identified as Manik Islam, was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) while attempting to cross the Banglabandha border into India at Fulbari.
According to reports, the arrest occurred at around 10 pm on Sunday night when Islam was interrogated. Subsequently, officials found documents confirming his citizenship in both Bangladesh and India. Following this, the BSF promptly handed over Islam to the NJP police station.
A case was filed against the accused, and Islam was presented before the Jalpaiguri court for further legal proceedings on Monday. Meanwhile, the officials have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Islam’s possession of dual citizenship documents.
