Kharibari, 25th January: The Kharibari police have arrested a youth, identified as Ratan Sarkar (24), with brown sugar. Ratan is a resident of the Milan Pally area in Bidhannagar.
According to reports, the youth was spotted roaming near the Batasi Health Center in Kharibari on Friday night. Acting on a tip-off, the police reached the area and conducted a search, leading to the recovery of 104 grams of brown sugar from his possession.
Police sources revealed that the market value of the seized drugs is estimated to be in lakhs. Following the recovery, the youth was arrested and sent to the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Saturday.
The police have launched an investigation to determine whether others are involved in the incident.
