Siliguri, 25th February: In yet another incident of illegal firearm possession, police officials successfully arrested a youth with a firearm along with live ammunition. The arrested accused has been identified as Bappi Mahato, a resident of the Khola Chand Fapri area under the Bhaktinagar Police Station.
According to reports, on Saturday midnight, the officials received a tip-off regarding a suspicious individual roaming in Khola Chand Fapri near the Salugara forest range office with a firearm. Subsequently, a team of police officials led by SI Youel Lepcha arrived at the location and arrested the individual based on the information.
During the search, the officials recovered a firearm along with live ammunition from the accuser’s possession prompting his arrest. The accused was arrested under the registered case of Arms Act while the case has been forwarded to the Jalpaiguri Court.
