Siliguri, 28th January: In a significant operation against drug smuggling, Pradhan Nagar police arrested a youth with 20 kg of cannabis during a raid at Siliguri Junction Bihar Bus Stand on Tuesday evening. The accused has been identified as Tapo Roy, a resident of Cooch Behar.
According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted under the leadership of Pradhan Nagar Police Station In-charge B.D. Sarkar. During the operation, a suspicious youth carrying two bags was apprehended. Upon inspection, 20 kg of cannabis was recovered from the bags, leading to his arrest under the NDPS Act.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the cannabis was intended to be smuggled from Cooch Behar to Bihar via Siliguri. The accused will be presented before the Siliguri court on Wednesday.
