Siliguri, 15th September: The Siliguri Women’s Police arrested a youth on Monday night for allegedly trying to rape a 16-year-old girl. The incident surfaced from the Matigara area near Siliguri. The accused youth is said to be a resident of Kisanganj in Bihar.
Reportedly, the minor girl was returning home from tuition last Sunday, during which the accused youth chased her and then attempted to rape her. When she shouted for help, the locals rushed to the spot. However, the youth managed to escape the scene.
Following this, a written complaint was lodged at the Matigara police station on behalf of the minor’s family.
The police launched investigations and successfully got hold of the accused youth on Monday night. He was produced before the Siliguri court today.
