Siliguri, 01st March: In a recent development, the cops of Khalpara Outpost have arrested one charged with van theft. The arrested accused has been identified as Raj Chaudhary, a resident of Hemant Basu Colony under Ward No. 04 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
According to police sources, on the afternoon of February 28, a van was allegedly stolen from the area adjacent to Agrasen Road in Khalpara. Upon learning of the theft, the van’s owner filed a written complaint at the Khalpara police station. On Thursday, the police arrested the accused from Hemant Basu Colony based on the complaint.
Subsequently, the police retrieved the van in a completely damaged condition. Reportedly, the accused had stolen the van for sale. On Friday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court for legal proceedings.
