Siliguri, 08th January: An unsettling incident occurred where two miscreants allegedly assaulted a person walking on the road in Siliguri. Additionally, one of the miscreants bit the finger of the person with his teeth and attempted to snatch his mobile phone. However, the locals apprehended one of the miscreants. The accused has been identified as Pemba Tamang (21).
As per the details received, on Sunday evening, a person named Rakesh Ranjan was traveling towards the market from Champasari Road. Simultaneously, two miscreants arrived from behind and began abusing the victim Rakesh. Subsequently, both the miscreants assaulted the victim. When Rakesh protested against the incident, the accused Pemba allegedly bit off one of Rakesh’s fingers with his teeth.
After the incident, the accused and his accomplice attempted to snatch his mobile phone. Upon hearing the scream of Rakesh, the locals arrived at the spot and apprehended Pemba. However, the other miscreant fled.
Meanwhile, the police were promptly informed about the matter. Upon receiving the news, the cops of Pradhan Nagar police station arrived at the spot and arrested the accused. On Monday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court. Currently, the police are on the hunt for Pemba’s accomplice. At present, the case is under further investigation.
