Youth arrested in Siliguri with automatic pistol and live ammunition

Siliguri, 23rd November: As part of a high-alert special drive and naka checking following the Delhi car blast, Pradhan Nagar police arrested a youth on Friday night at Namchi Bus Stand near the Siliguri Junction with a US-made automatic pistol and two rounds of live ammunition.


The arrested youth has been identified as 27-year-old Sagar Mangar, a resident of Kalimpong. Police stated that he was involved in illegal activities in Siliguri.

According to police sources, the recovered automatic pistol has high demand in the black market, valued between ₹1.5 to 2 lakh. Preliminary interrogation revealed that Sagar Mangar had brought the pistol to Siliguri to sell it. He was roaming near the bus stand for this purpose when police apprehended him.


The accused has been produced in Siliguri Court on Saturday, with police seeking remand to trace the network involved in arms trafficking. This is the second firearm seizure by Pradhan Nagar police in the past 14 days. Authorities are investigating the case with utmost seriousness.
