Siliguri, 23rd March: A youth has been arrested in Siliguri on charges of molesting multiple women. The accused has been identified as Saranendu Mondal (27), a resident of Chayanpara area.
According to police sources, several complaints had been received against the accused for quite some time. It is alleged that he used to molest women in various lanes and secluded areas across the city. Recently, a college student was allegedly harassed in the Hakimpara area.
Following the incident, a written complaint was lodged at the Siliguri Women’s Police Station on 19th March. Subsequently, more women came forward and shared similar experiences.
Based on the investigation, police identified the accused and arrested him late Sunday night from the Jalpai More area. The accused was produced before the court on Monday. Police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
