Siliguri, 15th June: A youth has been arrested on the charge of duping a young woman on the pretext of marrying in Siliguri.
As per the report, Sourav Bhattacharya, a resident of Babupara, had a love affair with a young woman from Suryasen Colony for the past 4 years. Allegedly, they even moved in together multiple times.
Apparently, Sourav Bhattacharya did not show up at the Registry office on June 12 despite promising the girl that he would marry her. After waiting for hours, the heartbroken girl returned home. On June 13, the girl’s family lodged a written complaint against Sourav at the NJP police station alleging rape.
Police arrested the youth from Alipurduar yesterday on the basis of the allegations. The arrested youth was sent to Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday.
