Naxalbari, 28th January: A youth identified as Mohammad Irfan, a resident of Naxalbari, was arrested for purchasing drugs during a police raid in Nehal Dayaram Jote, Naxalbari.
According to reports, the Naxalbari police station acted on a tip-off and conducted a raid on a house suspected of being involved in the sale and purchase of drugs. During the operation, the youth who came to buy drugs was apprehended, while the drug dealer managed to escape. The police recovered 57 grams of brown sugar and ₹40,200 in cash from the arrested individual.
In a notable turn of events, Arun Ghosh, the Sabhadhipati of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, joined the raid after witnessing the police action. Ghosh emphasized the importance of public participation in combating drug issues and called for collective efforts to build a drug-free society.
The arrested individual has been sent to the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
