Youth allegedly beaten up at Siliguri North Bengal Recovery Center, family members lodge complaint

Siliguri, 29th May: Sensation prevailed after a youth was allegedly beaten up at North Bengal Recovery Center in Punjabi Para, Siliguri.


As per the information, Mangal Khandkar, a resident of the Siliguri Gurung Basty area, admitted his 25-year-old son Sakhil to the said center a month ago to help him get rid of addiction. However, it has been alleged that Sakhil used to be beaten up at the center and was deprived of proper treatment.

In this regard, the agitated family lodged a written complaint at the police station against the said recovery center in Punjabi para and demanded the administration to give strict punishment to the culprits.


On the other hand, Deepen Gurung, the in-charge of North Bengal Recovery Center, admitted their fault and claimed that the incident has occurred in his absence while Sakhil tried to run away from the center.
