Young woman’s body recovered from forest near Chamta railway bridge in Siliguri

Siliguri, 21st May: The recovery of a young woman’s body near Chamta Railway Bridge, close to the city center, has caused a sensation in the area. The deceased has been identified as Kavita, who worked as a waste collector.


Reportedly, local residents spotted the body in the forested area adjacent to the Chamta railway bridge early on Tuesday morning and promptly informed the Matigara police station. Subsequently, police officials arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination.

Preliminary police reports indicate that the deceased had sustained head injuries and had broken bones in her arms and legs, suggesting she may have been hit by a train. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed following the post-mortem report. The police are currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances leading to her death.
