Rajganj, 25th June: In a recent development, the discovery of a young man’s body hanging at a house has caused a stir in the Krishnanagar Colony area under Ambari Outpost, near the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Ujjwal Das (32). His family has filed a case of murder.
According to family sources, Ujjwal Das lived with his wife and children in Krishnanagar Colony, while other family members resided in separate houses. Ujjwal, who traded milk with his elder brother, was found hanging in his room by his brother, who had come to collect money for milk sales around 8 p.m. Neighbors rushed to the scene upon hearing his brother’s screams.
At the time of the incident, Ujjwal’s wife and children were not at home. The family suspects foul play as Ujjal’s legs and waist were restrained with two ropes.
Police were informed and subsequently recovered the body, which has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination on Tuesday. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
Local panchayat member Chitta Tikadar and a relative of the deceased, Balram Chandra Das, stated arriving immediately after hearing the news. Both indicated that the manner in which the body was hanging, strongly suggests murder.
