Woman’s body recovered from Fulbari Mahananda Barrage, area gripped by panic

Fulbari, 25th December: Panic spread across the Fulbari area on Thursday morning after the body of a woman was recovered from the Mahananda Barrage. The deceased has been identified as Maneshwari Roy, a resident of the Chobhavita area under Fulbari II Gram Panchayat.


According to local sources, people who had gone out for their morning walk noticed a body floating in the water near Lock Gate Number 8 of the Fulbari Mahananda Barrage. Soon, the news spread and a large crowd gathered at the spot.

Family members said the woman had been missing for the past seven days. After receiving information about the recovery of the body, relatives rushed to the location and identified the deceased.


The incident was reported to the Phansidewa police station. Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are yet to be ascertained. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
