Siliguri, 31st May: In a distressing incident, a woman fruit seller was allegedly beaten up over protesting against derogatory comments. The injured woman is currently undergoing treatment.
The incident took place in the Khai Khai Bazaar of Ektiasal in Siliguri when the fruit seller was fixing her shop. Allegedly, at that time, another woman fruit seller made a derogatory comment. In response, the woman replied back defending herself due to which a young man allegedly beat the woman.
After the incident, the injured woman was admitted to Siliguri District hospital. Meanwhile, a written complaint has been filed against the accused youth at Bhakti Nagar police station. On the other hand, the daughter of the injured woman demanded strict punishment against those responsible for her mother’s condition.
