Woman robbed of gold jewellery in broad daylight in Siliguri

Siliguri, 31st March: Sensation prevailed after a woman was allegedly robbed of gold jewellery in an e-rickshaw (Toto) in broad daylight, on Wednesday. The incident caused a stir in the city.

The woman identified as Chabi Mandal, a resident of Siliguri’s Ward No. 35, boarded a toto from Fuleshwari More. Allegedly, two youths were already seated in the toto. They even interacted with her during the journey and asked where did she live.

Shockingly, the woman does not have any memory of what happened after the said conversation. When she regained consciousness, she found herself lying at NJP station and noticed all her gold ornaments were missing.

Luckily, she still had her mobile phone in her purse and she immediately contacted her family members. They then approached the GRP to report the incident, however, the GRP officials hesitated to file a complaint. Later when they went to the NJP police station, they were asked to approach the GRP. The woman alleged that the Toto driver and the youths sprayed something to make her unconscious and then looted the ornaments.
