Jalpaiguri, 31st January: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a woman, identified as Sompa Roy, a data entry operator at the Maynaguri BDO office, who was on SIR duty. The accident occurred at Dasdarga on the Jalpaiguri-Siliguri National Highway when a dumper collided with the scooter she was riding.
Sompa Roy was traveling with her colleague Payel Mahanta, who also works as a data entry operator handling SIR hearing data at the Maynaguri BDO office. Both were critically injured in the collision.
They were rushed to the super-speciality wing of Jalpaiguri Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared Sompa Roy dead. Payel Mahanta’s condition remains critical.
Police have launched a search for the dumper involved in the accident.
