Kharibari, 05th November: In a heart-wrenching incident, a newlywed bride committed suicide at her grandmother’s place about five months after her marriage. The incident took place in the Kilaghata More in Kharibari. The deceased woman has been identified as Poonam Mahato.
According to reports, Poonam was engaged in a matrimonial bond with a man named Chandan Sha from Naxalbari. However, during the Durga Puja, she arrived at her grandmother’s place. On Saturday night, the elderly woman found the lifeless body of her granddaughter hanging from the noose inside the house. The Kharibari police were immediately informed of the incident.
Subsequently, the police promptly arrived at the location and recovered the deceased body. The body was then transferred to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
