Jalpaiguri, 06th March: A young woman lost her life in a tragic road accident late at night in the Maulani overbridge area of Jalpaiguri.
According to sources, six people were travelling in a car from Jalpaiguri to Lataguri on Thursday night. While the vehicle was climbing the overbridge, a dog suddenly came onto the road. In an attempt to avoid hitting the animal, the driver reportedly lost control of the speeding car, which crashed into the divider and overturned.
Hearing the loud noise, local residents rushed to the spot and began rescue efforts. The injured were pulled out of the vehicle and taken to Jalpaiguri Medical College and Hospital.
Doctors at the hospital declared a young woman, identified as Poulomi Bagchi, dead on arrival. Four other occupants of the car sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.
Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and recovered the accident-damaged car. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
