Fulbari, 19th September: A woman was injured after falling from a moving bus while attempting to get off in the Batallion More area near the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway on Thursday.
The injured woman, identified as Polly Debnath, hails from Balurghat but resides in a rented house in the Dakshin Dhantala area of Fulbari. She had boarded a government bus operating on the Bahadurganj-Siliguri route. However, as the bus reached the Batallion More area, Polly attempted to disembark while the vehicle was still in motion.
Consequently, she fell onto the road and sustained head injuries. Locals rushed to her aid and transported her to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Locals complained that bus drivers often drive recklessly, leading to frequent accidents. They alleged that the bus driver accelerated before Polly could safely get off causing her to suffer injuries.
