Siliguri, 12th December: Bhaktinagar resident Ashtami Roy Singh has raised serious allegations against her husband and in-laws of throwing her and her one and a half-year-old child out of the house for dowry.
As per Ashtami accusations, she was harassed by her husband Shubhajit Singh and her in-laws over dowry. They often humiliated her for not bringing money from her father’s house. Unable to bear such torment, Ashtami started living separately with her husband.
Reportedly, Ashtami was living in her paternal house following her father’s death a few days ago. When she returned to her in-laws’ house on Friday night, she was again humiliated and was sent back. Ashtami returned on Saturday too, but this time she found the house’s gate locked. Besides, she is not being able to contact her husband.
Stranded with her one and a half-year-old child with no place to go, Ashtami lodged a complaint at the Bhaktinagar police station regarding the entire incident. She wishes to go to her in-laws and stay with her husband.
An attempt was also made to reach the accused family on behalf of the police, but they could not be contacted.
