Kharibari, 17th August: A woman identified as Geeta Singha was found dead in her home in Gazi Jote, Kharibari, reportedly due to an alleged family dispute.
Geeta, who was married to Bapi Singha for the past ten years and had three children, had been enduring domestic abuse throughout their marriage. Bapi Singha, known for his alcohol abuse and previous incarceration for assaulting his wife, allegedly beat Geeta again on Saturday morning.
Upon receiving information, the Kharibari police arrived at the scene and recovered Geeta’s body, which has been brought to the police station. It will be sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem on Sunday.
The deceased’s mother has called for strict punishment for Bapi Singha, who has been arrested by the police. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to address the incident.
