Woman dies at a private hospital in Siliguri, family allege medical negligence

Siliguri, 09th August: The death of a woman at a private hospital in Siliguri’s Sevoke Road has created a stir in the area.


As per the report, on August 02, a woman from Birpara was admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) following fever and other ailments. Her swab test was also taken which came back negative.

However, as her health condition deteriorated, she was taken to a private hospital in Sevoke Road, where her COVID-19 test came back positive. After undergoing treatment for few days, she breathed her last yesterday.


Following her demise, the deceased’s family members demanded that she should be tested once again for the virus. They alleged that they are doubtful regarding the hospital’s report and stated that the hospital authorities are not cooperating with them.

They staged a protest outside the hospital in this regard and also raised questions concerning the hospital’s medical system.

A complaint was lodged at the Bhaktinagar police station today. Police have started an investigation on the basis of the complaint.

On the other hand, no response was received from the hospital authorities in this regard.
