Phansidewa, 22nd June: In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested a woman for smuggling 6.5 kg of cannabis on a passenger bus following a tip-off information. The accused, identified as Deepali Sau, is a resident of Balurghat.
Reportedly, the raid was undertaken at Ghoshpukur in Phansidewa, where police intercepted the bus and apprehended Sau with the illegal substance. According to police sources, the woman was transporting the cannabis from Cooch Behar to Balurghat.
Deepali Sau was presented at the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Saturday. The Phansidewa police station has initiated a thorough investigation into the incident.
