Siliguri, 13th February: In a recent development, the Special Task Force (STF) team launched an operation and arrested a woman with heroin worth lakhs of rupees. The arrested accused has been identified as Sadhna Haldar (55), a resident of Murshidabad.
According to reports, acting on a tip-off, the STF team launched an operation at NJP Railway Station on Sunday evening. During this, a woman was interrogated and searched based on suspicion. Subsequently, a packet of heroin weighing 566 grams was recovered from the woman’s bag. The market value of the contraband is estimated to be around Rs 15 lakhs.
Upon interrogation, the accused woman stated that she had arrived at the NJP Railway Station with the heroin from Assam and was waiting for another train for Murshidabad.
Meanwhile, the STF has registered a case against the accused woman under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and handed her over to the Government Railway Police (GRP). On Tuesday, the accused was produced before Jalpaiguri Court for further action.
