Siliguri, 30th August: A woman was arrested in New Jalpaiguri (NJP) for attempting to sell raw spirit, which she allegedly brought from Panitanki on the India-Nepal border. The accused, identified as Geeta Saibo, a resident of Naxalbari, was apprehended during a police raid.
As per reports, acting on a tip-off, undercover officers from NJP police station conducted a raid near NJP Netaji More, where they caught the woman with 37 liters of raw spirit, believed to be used for producing counterfeit liquor.
According to police sources, the arrested woman has been involved in illegal activities for an extended period. Following her arrest, she was presented in Jalpaiguri court on Friday. The police have launched an investigation into the case.
