Rajganj, 14th November: Every year November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day in honour of children. It is also celebrated across India to raise awareness about the rights, education, and welfare of children. However, the visuals from Dharagach No 2 Bfp Primary School (DNBPS) of Majhiali Gram Panchayat under Raiganj Block painted a different picture today.
The state-run primary school situated in the village of Majhiali provides education to about 150 students. Like other schools and educational institutes, the school also celebrated Children’s Day today. However, with the absence of a proper dining shed in the school, students were spotted eating their food while sitting on the ground.
As per the report, students do not have access to clean drinking water. Furthermore, the school is located near one of the busiest roads in the area. And with the absence of a boundary wall, there are high chances of children running towards the road and getting hurt. Also, dirt from the road blankets the ground where the student usually sits to have their food. The students are forced to study amid the dilapidated and unhygienic conditions of the school.
In this regard, the headmaster of the school Pradeep Kumar Das told that there are many problems including the lack of a dining shed in the school. He alleged that even after submitting several applications at various places, no solutions have been provided to them.
Unfortunately, it is a common sight to see children in government-run primary schools sitting on the ground and studying in such poor conditions. With the cold season approaching, one can only hope that the infrastructure of the Dharagach No 2 Bfp Primary School will be looked into at the earliest.
