Wild tuskers damage three houses in Kharibari

Kharibari, 04th August: Wild elephants went on a rampage in a residential area adjacent to the Panitanki area of Kharibari and damaged three homes while searching for food.


Reportedly, two elephants from the nearby Tukriajhar forest entered the residential area adjacent to Dulal Jote in Kharibari. Initially, one of the elephants broke through the boundary wall of a local named Bijoy Tamang’s property. Subsequently, Mithun Singh and Ranjit Singh’s homes suffered damage as the elephants pushed through walls and consumed rice and wheat flour.

Following the rampage, the elephants retreated back into the jungle. The locals are demanding compensation from the forest department for the damages incurred during the incident. Furthermore, the panic-driven residents urged for heightened patrolling in the area.
