Wild elephant herd spotted in Naxalbari’s Nehal Jote, forest department monitoring movement

Naxalbari, 21st May: A herd of wild elephants was spotted in the Nehal Jote area of Naxalbari, near the Nepal border, on Wednesday morning. The elephants reportedly ventured out of the forest in search of food.


According to forest department sources, the herd consists of nine elephants. Locals observed the animals moving toward the forest early in the morning. The elephants were seen roaming near residential areas, but no damage has been reported.

Officials believe the herd may return to the Kalabari Forest after collecting food. The forest department is actively monitoring the situation to ensure safety and prevent any conflict.
