Siliguri, 24th February: Sensation prevailed in the area after a wild elephant emerged from the Baikunthpur forest and entered a locality in Siliguri.
According to reports, earlier on Saturday, a wild elephant was witnessed roaming in the Bhola More area of New Jalpaiguri (NJP). The elephant had travelled via Canal Road and the Bhalobasha More and eventually headed towards the 4th Battalion of the RPF at Bhola More.
Sources revealed that the elephant would be removed from the Battalion and driven back into the forest by the Dabgram Range forest officials later in the evening. Meanwhile, the forest officials have been present in the area since morning.
