Naxalbari, 26th September: Naxalbari police have arrested a man in connection with the recovery of his wife’s decomposed body from a rented house. The arrested man has been identified as Biplab Choudhury.
According to reports, Biplab, a resident of Gangarampur, developed a relationship with Hema Mondal, a woman from Dhulabari in Nepal, while he was working there. The couple eloped and got married around two years ago.
After their marriage, the couple had been living in a rented house at Rathkhola More in Naxalbari. Biplab had been away from home for around a week due to work. After returning home, he found his wife’s decomposed body inside the house. On receiving the information, Naxalbari police reached the spot and recovered the body.
Hema’s family members arrived from Nepal after learning about her death. Her father alleged that her husband was involved in her death and lodged a complaint at Naxalbari Police Station.
Based on the complaint, police initially detained Biplab for questioning. After prolonged interrogation, he was arrested by Naxalbari police. He was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Saturday.
