Siliguri, 16th October: At just 16, Rudra Roy, a teenager from Jyoti Nagar in Siliguri who has difficulty speaking, is showcasing his talent through his artwork. He has crafted a small Durga idol with his own hands, reflecting his creativity and passion for art through its structure, colours and decoration.
Rudra began making idols only a year ago, starting with small creations on the balcony of his home. Since then, his interest and dedication have helped him gradually develop his skills in idol-making.
His father, Dinesh Roy, has been a source of inspiration. Driven by his own curiosity, Rudra once visited Siliguri’s Kumartuli to observe idol-making up close. The experience motivated him to try creating idols himself. After returning home, he began working with clay and gradually learned to shape, paint and decorate the idols.
Along with crafting the idols, Rudra pays special attention to their decoration, adding his own creative touches to each creation.
Rudra’s journey is more than a story of making a Durga idol. It reflects his determination, enthusiasm and creativity. Despite his speech difficulties, he continues to nurture his artistic abilities and pursue his passion.
