Siliguri, 13th February: One of the many visually impaired students, Rupak Sarkar, of Tarai Tarapada Adarsha Vidyalaya, is appearing for his Madhyamik examination despite challenges. Rupak hails from the Vivekananda Sarani area in Ward 35 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
According to reports, Rupak was not born blind. He lost his sight while playing cricket with his friends as a child. The cricket ball hit his eye, and his vision gradually deteriorated. Meanwhile, his doctors informed him that it would take a long time for his vision to recover.
Due to his visual impairment, Rupak is receiving assistance from a writer to help him with his exams. He shared that a neighbor, whom he refers to as “Didi,” helps him by recording her voice, which he listens to prepare for his examinations. Rupak aspires to join the Merchant Navy, and he continues to pursue his goal with determination.
