Visually impaired Rajganj youth selling incense sticks despite clearing Primary TET Exam

Rajganj, 04th December: Ashish Saha, a 100 percent visually impaired youth from Rajganj, is struggling to find employment despite passing the Primary TET Exam in 2022. With no call for an interview, Ashish has been forced to earn a living by selling incense sticks in markets across Siliguri-Jalpaiguri.

Reportedly, a resident of Fulbari-Dabgram Bhakti Nagar in the Rajganj block, Ashish comes from a family of farmers. He holds a B.Ed degree after completing his post-graduation. Despite passing the TET exam, Ashish has yet to receive any invitation for the interview.

He now sells incense sticks at various locations such as Shikarpur Haat in Belakoba, Ambadi, Naxalbari, Matigara, Court More, and Junction in Siliguri. Ashish remains hopeful, stating that if given the chance to attend the interview, he is confident he will succeed based on his merit.

Despite applying for jobs in multiple institutes, Ashish has not received any offers. He acknowledged the state government’s quota system for the visually impaired but expressed frustration over the lack of opportunities. Ashish hopes the government will offer him a job, even on a contract basis, and remains grateful for any chance to work.
