Vishva Hindu Parishad calls for 12-Hour Siliguri Bandh in protest of schoolgirl murder

Siliguri, 23rd August: Siliguri was engulfed in a wave of intense agitation following the shocking murder of a schoolgirl in Matigara. Responding to the heinous incident, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has declared a 12-hour bandh in Siliguri on Thursday as a mark of protest against the brutal killing of the minor victim.

Reportedly, a massive protest march unfolded in Siliguri, starting from Darjeeling More earlier on Wednesday. The rally progressed through Mallaguri, culminating at Mahatma Gandhi More (Airview More). Amid fervent demonstrations, VHP leaders announced their decision to enforce a 12-hour bandh scheduled to take place from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM on Thursday. Additionally, they announced plans for a silent protest rally to be held in solidarity with the victim and to raise awareness about the gravity of the issue.
