Videographers staged a sit-in protest in front of Rajganj BDO office demanding payment of dues

Siliguri, 02nd January: Videographers staged a sit-in protest in front of Rajganj BDO office in demand of dues. The protesters claimed that about Rs 14 lakh, which was given for the work of videography during the last assembly elections, is still outstanding.

In this regard, Bulanchand and Prasenjit Badai told that in the 2021 assembly elections, they were asked by the BDO office to do videography in Rajganj block. As per that instruction, more than 100 youths were engaged in videography and the bill stood at around Rs.20 lakhs. But, they were paid only Rs 5 lakh in two instalments. It is alleged that the balance amount has not been paid even after almost two years.

They further said that the people who have worked are repeatedly insisting and appealing to clear their dues. They also have applied several times to the block and district administration to no avail. Citing this they stated that they have been forced to stage the protest.

On the other hand, Rajganj’s BDO Pankaj Konar said that the contractors have written to him about the contract of Rs 14 lakh, which was given to them for the videography work during the elections, which is still outstanding. He added that they will be paid after getting the money from the concerned department.
