Veteran CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury passes away at the age of 72

News Desk: Veteran CPI(M) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sitaram Yechury, a prominent figure in Indian politics has passed away at the age of 72. Yechury had been receiving treatment for a lung infection at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi.


According to reports, his health had been in decline over the past week, and he was placed on oxygen support last Monday night. Despite medical efforts, Yechury succumbed to his illness on Thursday afternoon.

The news of his passing has cast an atmosphere of grief through the political community. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also expressed profound sorrow at Yechury’s death.
