Rambi, 26th October: National Highway 10, which had been closed since the night of October 19, reopened today resuming vehicular movements. The highway was shut down after landslides occurred at around seven places along the NH10. Although the debris from the highway was cleared to some extent, another landslide occurred at Birik Dara near Rambi once again blocking the key link.
While the PWD department managed to cut through the wall in 24 hours with the help of 4 JCB machines, the movement of vehicles finally started from around 4 pm today. After the opening of the road, heavy vehicles that had been stranded for many days started moving towards their respective destinations from today.
On the other hand, police personnel led by SI Thupden Bhutia, In-charge of Rambi Reang police station, have been deployed to maintain traffic in the area.
