Vegetable sellers spotted dumping bitter gourd into the river in Belakoba after drop in market price

Rajganj, 19th April: In Belakoba, vegetable vendors were left feeling disheartened as the price of bitter gourd continued to plummet in the markets. In a desperate move, two vendors were seen dumping their bitter gourd stock into the river near the Manthini Bridge area.

Upon being asked, the vendors explained that they had arrived at the market this morning with bags full of the vegetable, but to their dismay, there were no buyers. They had spent approximately Rs 50,000 and dedicated three months to cultivating the bitter gourd, hoping to make a profit in the market. However, wholesale buyers were only offering to pay Rs 2-4 per kilo, a price that would not even cover their expenses, let alone make a profit. Frustrated with their situation, they made the difficult decision to dispose of their stock in the river.
