Siliguri, 22nd February: Various programmes have been organized in the hills, today, to mark the fifth anniversary of the Sherpa Cultural Development Board. Meanwhile, the people of the hills are celebrating the Losar festival with much enthusiasm. The leader of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha Binay Tamang, Darjeeling District Magistrate Deepap Priya P, the Principal Secretary of the Backward Classes Welfare Department SK Thade, and many other dignitaries were present at the event held at Darjeeling. Binay Tamang inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp.
Addressing the reporters, Morcha leader Binay Tamang stated that 14 boards have been formed for the development of all the tribes of the hills under the initiative of the Chief Minister of the State, Mamata Banerjee. Also, various programmes were organized to mark the foundation day of the Sherpa Board, today.
