Various programmes held by Indian army to commemorate the Golden Victory Year

Siliguri, 08th October: Various programmes were organized on behalf of the Indian Army on Friday to commemorate the Golden Victory Year. Also, the soldiers who summit Mount Khangchengyao in North Sikkim were felicitated.


It is to recall, a team of 18 member Tri-Services team led by Lieutenant Colonel Mirza Zahid Baig summited Mount Khangchengyao the 4th highest peak in Sikkim and 10th highest in India. All members, including two women, braved extreme weather conditions and scaled the heights with unflinching determination raising Tricolor at the summit. Mt Khangchengyao at a height of 6889 metres is considered amongst the most challenging peaks due to steep climbs, vertical ice walls, freezing temperatures and rarefied atmosphere.

On the occasion, a programme was organized at Sukna Trishakti Corps on Friday. Lt Gen AK Singh congratulated the team members.
