Fulbari, 12th February: Former KLO linkmen held the Uttar Kanya Abhiyan on Thursday, demanding employment along with three key demands. Linkmen from Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar districts participated in large numbers.
The rally was stopped by a heavy police contingent at Chunavati More, Fulbari. To control the situation, police deployed a large force, along with water cannons and barricades. After being stopped, the protesters staged a sit-in on the road.
The demonstrators demanded immediate employment for former KLO linkmen, permanent rehabilitation, and the formation of an autonomous council.
Around 200 linkmen from Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar districts participated in the campaign. After the rally was stopped, a few representatives went to Uttar Kanya to submit a memorandum.
