Siliguri, 21st December: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Uttar Banga Poush Mela has been cancelled this time. However, a symbolic event was organized on Monday following the tradition.
Reportedly, the ceremony was held on Monday at the Siliguri Poush Mela premises through a cultural programme.
Jyotsna Agarwal, general secretary of the Poush Mela Committee emphasized the importance to maintain social distance during the pandemic. Keeping this in mind, the event was apparently cancelled this year. She further stated that the Committee carried out a 3-hour symbolic ceremony as per the tradition.
