Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya holds meeting with SJDA officials

Siliguri, 28th August: Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs held a meeting with Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority officials today. Many important issues were discussed in the meeting, including the settlement of long pending projects.


Addressing the media after the meeting, Chandrima Bhattacharya said that the SJDA has been directed to complete the old pending works before taking up any new plans. Apart from this, appropriate steps are also being taken in the case of Kawakhali land acquisition. 

Bhattacharya further maintained that in the year 20-21, a total of 18 Ongoing projects proposals were sent. Out of which 16 projects have been approved. The completion of these projects will cost Rs 129 crore for the financial year 20-21. Out of which Rs 62 crore has been approved.


 

She added that the department is already very cautious about the third wave of COVID-19. In this context, mobile vans will be introduced to create awareness among the people. Apart from this, the process of applying for the vaccine from door to door will also start so that the elderly people can get vaccinated as soon as possible. 

Meanwhile, taking a jibe at the central government, the Minister accused the centre of not sending the required vaccines to the state. Allegedly, the state is in need of 14 crore vaccines while the centre is sending only 04 crore vaccines.
