Cooch Behar, 15th February: Due to the no repairment of the dilapidated road for a long time, members of a private passenger transport organization of Cooch Behar district staged a unique demonstration by performing a funeral ritual mid-road by bringing priests and playing dhaak.
Reportedly, the 18-kilometre road to Mathabhanga Sitalkuchi in Cooch Behar district has been dilapidated for a long time. No initiative is being taken to repair the road. After which, on Wednesday, the members of the organization brought priests to the Dharla Bridge of Mathabhanga Sitalkuchi and performed the funeral rituals of Public Works Department as a protest. Along with this, food was also arranged for the people during the demonstration.
The member of the organization said that the said road has been in a dilapidated condition for a long time. Commuting from Mathabhanga to Sitalkuchi is a daily hassle. Even after several tenders for road work, the road is not being built. For the said reason, such a unique protest program was organized today.
