Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlights four new labour codes in Siliguri, MP Raju Bista takes dig at TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee

Siliguri, 04th January: Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, reached Siliguri on Sunday and elaborated on the benefits of the four new labour codes.

At a convention organized by the Indian Tea Workers’ Union, he said the implementation of the codes will provide tea workers with social security, minimum wages, and greater transparency in employment, along with several new facilities.

He added that efforts are being made to bring workers from the unorganized sector into the mainstream to secure their future.

Darjeeling MP Raju Bista was also present at the program. During the event, he took a dig at TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, saying that although the central government runs several welfare schemes for workers, the responsibility of fixing daily wages of tea workers lies entirely with the state government.

Earlier, during a meeting with tea workers in Alipurduar district, Abhishek Banerjee had claimed that if TMC came to power, a tripartite meeting would be called within a month and the daily wage of tea workers would be raised to ₹300.

The program, held at North Bengal Marwari Bhavan on Sevoke Road in Siliguri, was attended by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, MPs Raju Bista and Manoj Tigga, BJP MLAs, and members of tea garden worker organizations.
