Siliguri, 31st August: Sensation prevailed after the body of a middle-aged man was found in the Maheshmari River located in Netaji Colony under Ward No. 46 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
As per reports, on Thursday, the locals spotted the body afloat in the river. Subsequently, the matter was informed to the Ward Councillor and Pradhan Nagar Police Station. Upon receiving the news, the police along with the Councillor arrived at the spot, recovered the deceased body, and transported it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. However, at the time of the report, the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.
According to the locals, the body of the middle-aged man was seen floating in the river in the morning. Meanwhile, Ward Councillor Dilip Barman also stated that an unidentified body was found and the matter is currently under police investigation.
