Phansidewa, 16th June: A commotion broke out in the Nirghingach area near Chathat Bazar in Phansidewa on Monday after locals spotted three cubs of an unidentified animal, initially suspected to be leopard cubs.
The unusual sighting drew curiosity and concern from residents, who feared the presence of a wild predator. However, forest department sources later clarified that the cubs were not leopards but jungle cat cubs, a protected species listed under Schedule One of the Wildlife Protection Act.
Authorities have decided to leave the cubs at the spot so their mother can return and retrieve them. The forest department is closely monitoring the area to ensure their safety and avoid any human interference.
