Siliguri, 09th July: Several mothers protested at Gate No. 08 of Siliguri Kanchenjunga Stadium, on Friday, over the unavailability of vaccines.
According to the information, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation has set up a vaccination camp for mothers of children upto 12 years of age. Around 150 mothers are vaccinated every day in this camp. However, this morning the women who came to get vaccinated alleged that the health workers turned them away saying that the businessmen would be vaccinated today instead.
This sparked anger among the mothers. They said that they were asked to come today to get vaccinated. Accordingly, they stood in the queue from 3 am but were later informed about the cancellation.
The women demanded to get vaccinated, failing which, they warned of stopping the traders from getting vaccinated.
